I’ve had a couple different careers, but I’ve always written poetry, even if I kept it completely private. In 2002, I graduated from Clemson University with a BS in horticulture and a minor in poetry. I worked at a plant nursery, did landscape work for the South Carolina Botanical Garden and for The City of Clemson’s Parks Department. I then worked as a grocery store florist for 13 years. Later in life, I decided to get my MFA in poetry, which I earned in 2012 from Butler University in Indianapolis. Currently, I am an adjunct English professor at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, Ivy Tech Community College, Marian University and Butler University in Indianapolis. In addition, I am the founder and editor in chief of The Indianapolis Review. I have two sons and live very near the famous Indy 500 racetrack.
